Plans

A lot has happened since I first created this blog, a lot of not so good life events, and a few amazing things. I have deleted everything and decided to start from scratch, a new optimistic and direct reflection of everything - because bottling it all up just doesn't cut it anymore.

It'll be centered around the nags still, mainly just to help me become accountable for their goals. So let's dive in!

I'll introduce the team and their November goals!

Fatty

My everything, in a tiny, tubby stock horse package. He's getting old now, and as always is fat as mud. He's my old reliable - the cow horse, feedlot pony, trail horse, just my 'get on and go' pony!

November goals:
  • Hooves, tail, coat, rugs... Unferalise.
  • Get back to a normal weight - ongoing issue!
  • Take out ponying more, he loves it and means I don't have to ride multiple horses!
  • Riding days - aim for at least 4 days light work

Pinky

My problem child, a 4yo Appaloosa who has sat in the paddock for 8 months whilst I went off and worked a bit too much! I chucked a saddle on him last week, and it turns out being spelled for 8 months on clover makes him buck, a lot. Serious attitude adjustments needed!

November goals:
  • Hooves, tail, coat, rugs... Unferalise.
  • Groundwork - polish up his turns, more tying up, increase that gold fish attention span!
  • Ridden work:
    • Softness in the bridle at walk/trot
    • Transitions - halt/walk/trot/back-up
    • Turnarounds - stepping front over
    • Hindquarter control
    • Bring in some pole work - side-passing, etc
  • Riding days - aim for > 5 times a week

Murray

Percheron x Stock horse, somewhere around 18 years. My partners horse who gets brought into once a year for a couple of days of hard work, then gets turned out again. He's getting on in age a bit, so just pottering with him because he has the most awesome canter out - seriously, could pour a cup of tea up there.

November goals:
  • Unferalise. Holy crap, his mane is like a birds nest. Some serious TLC for that department! He just needs a brush and some more work with tolerating things like fly veils and me being me around him.
  • Trim that old man tummy up!
  • Ponying with Fatty, because those two old buggers love it!
  • Riding time - aim for at least 3 days light work

Me

I'm a bit of a lost cause at the moment, might try to change that.

November goals:
  • Play with horses, consistently!
  • Buy summer rugs, and new boots
  • Find a PT and a gym, try to get health back under control.
  • Art
    • Finish 'Raf' portrait
    • Finish 'Brahman Calf' portrait
  • Cinches
    • Complete two by the end of the month (partner's and mine)
    • Get sample mohair from Aussie manufacturer
    • Buckles from Aussie manufacturer
  • Be happy!
